Aramid 4 Harness Satin Weave 1500d 5oz/170gsm
Description
Aramid (Kevlar®) 4-Harness Satin Weave — 1500d · 5oz (170gsm) · 50" / 127 cm
This fabric is a 4-Harness Satin (4HS) aramid cloth woven from 1500 denier yarns. The 4HS pattern provides excellent conformability compared with plain or twill weaves, allowing the fabric to drape cleanly over tight radii and compound curves while maintaining fiber alignment. With an areal weight of 5oz (≈170 gsm), it is a versatile reinforcement for lightweight, impact-tough laminates.
Why choose aramid?
- High toughness with outstanding impact and abrasion resistance for durable parts.
- Light weight / high tensile strength for excellent strength-to-weight laminates.
- Heat and fatigue resistance better than many conventional fibers.
- 4HS drape makes lay-ups easier on complex shapes and helps reduce bridging.
Typical applications
Protective skins and wear layers, boat/kayak/canoe interiors, fairings, racing seats, UAV and robotics housings, sporting-goods and repair patches, puncture- and abrasion-resistant panels, and hybrid lay-ups with carbon or glass.

Processing notes
- Aramid does not sand cleanly; finish with a cosmetic veil or paint/clear coat for best appearance.
- Use shears or serrated scissors designed for aramid to minimize fraying; seal edges where possible.
- Aramid is UV sensitive—protect finished parts with paint or a UV-stable coating.
- Excellent in hybrid lay-ups (e.g., carbon/aramid) where toughness and impact resistance are needed.
Ordering

Color note: Due to monitor settings and lighting, the fabric shade shown may vary from the actual material.
How We Sell
We sell this fabric by the linear yard. You will receive a continuous piece of fabric at the width listed.
For example, if the fabric is 50" wide, a quantity of 1 (linear yard) equals a continuous piece measuring 50" wide × 36" long. A quantity of 5 (linear yards) equals a continuous piece measuring 50" wide × 180" long.
