Description

TeXtreme® 1017 — HS Spread Tow Carbon Fiber, 12k, 39.37"/100 cm, 4.72 oz (160 gsm)

TeXtreme® 1017 is a high-strength (HS) spread tow carbon fiber fabric engineered for ultra-light, ultra-smooth laminates with premium cosmetics. By spreading 12k carbon tows into ultra-flat tapes and arranging them in a low-crimp 0°/90° pattern, TeXtreme® minimizes resin pooling and fiber waviness—delivering higher stiffness-to-weight and strength-to-weight ratios than conventional woven cloths at the same areal weight.

Why builders choose TeXtreme®

  • Low-crimp, flat tapes: improved fiber efficiency, fewer resin-rich zones, higher laminate performance.
  • Premium surface finish: reduced print-through and a clean, checkerboard aesthetic for visible-carbon parts.
  • Lightweight strength: HS fiber with excellent specific stiffness for weight-critical builds.
  • Better wet-out & drape: smooth handling with predictable layup characteristics.
  • Process-friendly binder: a light binder helps handling and cutting; for best cosmetics, place the non-binder side against the mold face.

Typical applications

  • Motorsport panels, aero devices, monocoques, interior trim
  • Marine & watersports: foils, boards, paddles, fairings
  • Sporting goods: bicycles, hockey/lacrosse sticks, rackets, skis/snowboards
  • UAV/RC, robotics, drones, camera gimbals
  • Consumer electronics skins, audio enclosures, custom composites

Layup & handling notes

  • Keep protective packaging on until use; handle with clean gloves to preserve surface quality.
  • Cut with sharp shears or a rotary cutter; a light binder aids pattern stability during cutting and placement.
  • For show-face parts, place the non-binder side toward the mold face to maximize surface clarity.
  • Debulk between plies as required; follow your resin manufacturer’s mix, wet-out and cure schedule.

Ordering

  • Width: 39.37" (100 cm)
  • Sold by:Linear Yard — 1 yard = 36" length × full width
