Carbon Fiber Fabric 2x2 Twill Biaxial +45/-45 Degree 12k 11.1oz/376gsm Toray T700
Description
Description
Carbon Fiber Fabric – 2x2 Twill Biaxial ±45° • 12K • 48″ (121.92 cm) • 11.1 oz (≈376 gsm) • Toray T700
This premium biaxial carbon cloth is engineered to place the fibers at +45°/-45° to the roll direction, giving you torsional strength and in-plane shear performance right out of the roll—no bias cutting, piecing, or re-orienting required. Woven in a crisp 2×2 twill with 12K Toray T700 standard-modulus fiber, it lays down cleanly, drapes well over contours, and produces a high-end cosmetic finish while delivering balanced ±45° reinforcement for structural laminates.
Why choose a ±45° biaxial twill?
- Built-in bias orientation: Saves time and material compared to cutting twill on the bias to achieve ±45° plies.
- Balanced shear & torsional stiffness: Ideal for parts that resist twisting, tail wag, or in-plane shear loads.
- 2×2 twill drape & cosmetics: Conforms to complex shapes and leaves a show-quality twill appearance.
- Consistent layups: Factory-controlled ±45° architecture improves repeatability and part-to-part consistency.
Typical Applications
- Motorsport bodywork, diffusers, splitters, floors, and aero where shear strength matters
- Composite tubes, panels, and shells requiring torsional rigidity
- Marine components, boards, and foils; UAV/drone frames and payload trays
- Sporting goods and industrial panels combined with 0/90° plies for quasi-isotropic layups
Specifications
- Fiber: Toray T700 (standard-modulus) carbon, 12K tow
- Construction:Biaxial ±45°, 2×2 twill architecture (A&P Technology BIMAX-H-48)
- Areal Weight:11.1 oz (≈ 376 gsm)
- Width:48″ (121.92 cm)
- Recommended Processes: Hand layup, vacuum bagging, and resin infusion using clear, UV-stable epoxies for visible parts
Processing Tips
- Pair with 0°/90° carbon or UD plies to achieve quasi-isotropic laminates with excellent torsional and bending balance.
- Keep fiber directions aligned (+45/-45) across plies to maintain symmetry and minimize print-through.
- Use a high-clarity, UV-stable epoxy and a proper post-cure for best cosmetics and mechanical properties.
