Carbon Fiber 5 Harness Satin 6k 10.9oz/369gsm
Description
Carbon Fiber Fabric — 5-Harness Satin (5HS) · 6k · 10.9oz (≈369gsm) · 50"/60" Widths
This premium carbon cloth uses a 6k tow in a 5-Harness Satin (5HS) weave to combine excellent drape with dependable mechanical performance. At 10.9oz (≈369gsm) the fabric lays down smoothly over complex shapes, bridges corners with minimal fiber distortion, and produces a refined surface that is easy to finish for clear-coat or paint.
Key advantages
- 5HS drape & cosmetics: Satin architecture conforms to tight radii for cleaner layups and reduced print-through vs. plain/twill.
- 6k reinforcement: Higher filament count per tow speeds laminate build and boosts stiffness vs. 3k fabrics.
- Consistent construction: ~12 EPI (ends/inch) × 11.5 PPI (picks/inch) for uniform fiber distribution.
- Resin compatibility: Wets out cleanly with epoxy (preferred), and is compatible with vinyl-ester and polyester.
Recommended uses
Visible carbon skins, automotive and motorsports components, marine panels, UAV/RC structures, sporting goods, industrial panels, and hybrid layups with fiberglass or aramid where improved impact or cost balance is desired.

Processing notes
- Handle with care to preserve the satin face. Use peel-ply or consolidation to control resin content.
- Vacuum-bagging or infusion yields the best fiber volume fraction and surface quality.
- For exterior parts, finish with a UV-stable clear coat or paint after cure/post-cure.
- Observe proper PPE when cutting or sanding composites.
Sold by the linear yard (36" length x 50" or 60" width) Multiple yardages will be rolled on one continuous roll when possible.
How We Sell
We sell this fabric by the linear yard. You will receive a continuous piece of fabric at the width listed.
For example, if the fabric is 50" wide, a quantity of 1 (linear yard) equals a continuous piece measuring 50" wide × 36" long. A quantity of 5 (linear yards) equals a continuous piece measuring 50" wide × 180" long.
