Mold Maintenance

Keep tooling clean, sealed, and glossy for consistent releases. Use mold cleaners (e.g., Frekote PMC, Rexco Formula Five #2) to strip wax, PVA, styrene residue, and shop contaminants. Apply sealers/primers such as Frekote FMS or Chemlease® MPP-2180 to close porosity and prepare new or refurbished tools for semi-permanent or wax systems. Finish with polishes/buffing compounds like Aqua Buff 1000-F or Formula Five Clean ’N Glaze to restore high gloss and reduce post-finish work. Suitable for gel-coated FRP molds, epoxy tooling, and metal tools.
