Carbon Fiber Fabric 2x2 Twill 12k 19.7oz/668gsm
Description
Description
Carbon Fiber Fabric – 2x2 Twill • 12K • 19.7 oz (≈668 gsm)
Build stiffness fast with this heavy 12K 2×2 twill carbon fiber cloth. At 19.7 oz (≈668 gsm), it lays down a thick, high-fiber laminate in fewer plies—ideal for large, rugged parts, tooling skins, and impact-resistant panels. The classic 2×2 twill provides the drape needed to conform around contours while keeping the iconic carbon appearance. Woven from high-grade PAN-based fibers, this cloth features a tight commercial weave for straighter bundles and cleaner cosmetics than many entry-level heavy fabrics.
Why choose this fabric
- Heavy areal weight (19.7 oz / 668 gsm): rapid thickness and stiffness per ply—fewer layers, less labor.
- 12K tow / 2×2 twill: excellent coverage with good drape for complex shapes and a premium visual finish.
- Tight, consistent weave: helps reduce print-through and pinholes when processed correctly.
- Process-friendly: performs well in hand layup, vacuum bagging, and resin infusion.
- Available widths: 50″ and 60″ to minimize seams on larger panels.
Typical applications
- Automotive & motorsport: structural skins, splitters, undertrays, seat shells, brackets, and mounts
- Marine & watersports: bulkheads, transoms, stringers, board cores, tooling skins
- UAV/robotics & industrial: frames, arms, machine guards, high-impact panels
- Molds & fixtures: stiff backing plies behind surface fabrics
