Carbon Fiber Fabric Unidirectional 12k 8.85oz/300gsm Hyosung H2550
Description
Carbon Fiber Fabric — Unidirectional (UD) 12k · 8.85oz (≈300gsm) · Hyosung® H2550
This professional-grade unidirectional (UD) carbon fabric is produced with Hyosung® H2550 12k PAN-based fibers. The carbon tows run in the 0° warp direction and are held in place by a light binder thread (weft) to make handling and layup easy. At 8.85 oz (≈300 gsm) and a nominal 0.021" thickness, this UD is ideal when you need maximum stiffness and strength in one primary axis. Available in multiple widths (see options).
Key benefits
- Directional performance: Concentrates fibers in the 0° direction for superior axial stiffness and tensile strength.
- 12k tow efficiency: Excellent load-carrying capability for spar caps, stringers, tubes, and beams.
- Clean handling: Stable, low-print binder threads make cutting and placement straightforward.
- Process-friendly: Compatible with epoxy (recommended), vinyl-ester, and polyester resins; suitable for wet layup or infusion with vacuum consolidation.
Typical uses
Spar caps and ribs, UAV/RC wings, laminates with tailored stiffness, bicycle/boardsport laminates, marine/oar blades, automotive and motorsports reinforcement, industrial panels and beams. Combine with ±45° and/or 0/90 woven fabrics to optimize laminate properties.
Technical details
- Fiber: Hyosung® H2550, 12k tow, PAN-based carbon
- Construction: Unidirectional (UD), 0° warp fibers with light binder yarns in weft
- Areal Weight: 8.85 oz (≈300 gsm)
- Nominal Thickness: ~0.021"
- Widths: 24", 50" (see product options for current availability)

Processing notes
- Align UD fibers with the primary load path (0°). Use ±45° and/or 90° plies for shear/biax support.
- Consolidate under vacuum for the best fiber-volume fraction and minimal print-through.
- For cosmetic parts, finish with a UV-stable clear coat or paint system.
Sold by the linear yard (36" length x 50" or 24" width) Multiple yardages are rolled on one continuous roll when possible.
How We Sell
We sell this fabric by the linear yard. You will receive a continuous piece of fabric at the width listed.
For example, if the fabric is 50" wide, a quantity of 1 (linear yard) equals a continuous piece measuring 50" wide × 36" long. A quantity of 5 (linear yards) equals a continuous piece measuring 50" wide × 180" long.
