Carbon Fiber/Kevlar Fabric Sleeve 7.5oz/254gsm
Description
Carbon Fiber/Kevlar Fabric Sleeve – 7.5oz/254gsm Seamless Braided Tubing
Our Carbon Fiber/Kevlar Fabric Sleeve is a seamless braided tubing designed to reinforce and protect straight or curved parts without the need for cutting and seaming flat fabric. By combining the stiffness of carbon fiber with the impact and abrasion resistance of Kevlar®, this sleeve delivers a tough, lightweight, and professional-grade solution for high-performance builds.
The flexible braid easily conforms to changing diameters and complex geometries, making it ideal for applications such as sports equipment, handrails, structural tubes, handles, and custom composite shafts. Once saturated with a compatible resin system and cured, the sleeve forms a durable composite shell with excellent mechanical properties and a clean woven appearance.
Technical Details
- Construction: Carbon fiber & Kevlar® hybrid braided sleeve
- Areal Weight: ~7.5oz (≈254gsm)
- Form: Seamless tubular braid (no longitudinal seams)
- Nominal Sizes: 0.5", 1.0", 1.5" (approx. relaxed inside diameter)
- Nominal Thickness: ~0.012" (≈0.30mm) when dry
- Compatible Resins: Epoxy (preferred), vinyl ester, and polyester systems suitable for carbon/Kevlar®
Key Features & Benefits
- Kevlar® Reinforced: Enhanced impact and abrasion resistance compared to sleeves made from carbon fiber alone.
- Seamless Coverage: Braided tubular format creates smooth, continuous coverage around the substrate.
- Conforms to Complex Shapes: Braid can expand or contract to follow tapers, bends, and varying diameters.
- Lightweight Strength: Excellent strength-to-weight ratio for demanding performance applications.
- Professional Finish: Clean hybrid carbon/Kevlar® aesthetic suitable for exposed or cosmetic parts.
Typical Applications
- Composite tubes and shafts
- Hockey, lacrosse, and other sports sticks
- Tool and equipment handles
- Roll bars, struts, and protective guards
- Robotics, UAV components, and custom performance parts
Processing Notes
- Select a sleeve size that will snugly fit your core once expanded; the braid can increase or decrease in diameter as it is pushed or pulled.
- Wet out thoroughly with a high-quality resin and consolidate (vacuum bagging or shrink tape is recommended) for optimum fiber-to-resin ratio.
- Multiple layers may be used where additional stiffness or impact protection is required.
Ordering
- Sold by linear yard
- Depending on length chosen may or may not come on a core

Note: Final appearance and dimensions depend on substrate size, braid expansion, resin choice, and processing technique. Always test on a short section to confirm fit and finish for your application.
How We Sell
We sell this fabric by the linear yard. You will receive a continuous piece of fabric at the width listed.
For example, if the fabric is 50" wide, a quantity of 1 (linear yard) equals a continuous piece measuring 50" wide × 36" long. A quantity of 5 (linear yards) equals a continuous piece measuring 50" wide × 180" long.
