Carbon Fiber/LMFG Stabilized Fabric 2x2 Twill 3k 6.1oz/206gsm Toray T300
Description
Description
Carbon Fiber / LMFG Stabilized Fabric — 2×2 Twill, 3K — 6.1 oz (206 gsm) — Toray® T300
This fabric combines the classic 2×2 twill 3K carbon look with easier handling on the bench. A small number of low-melt fiberglass (LMFG) yarns are woven into the cloth to stabilize the bundles, dramatically reducing edge fray and distortion when the fabric is cut, moved or vacuum-bagged. The LMFG yarns become nearly invisible when wet-out and have minimal effect on the cosmetic appearance while providing a noticeably cleaner process.
- Fiber / Tow: Toray® T300 PAN-based carbon, 3K with select LMFG stabilization yarns
- Weave: 2×2 twill (premium cosmetic, excellent drape)
- Areal Weight: 6.1 oz (206 gsm)
- Width: 50″ (sample swatches available)
- Stabilization Benefits: Less fraying, cleaner edges, improved kit accuracy, easier pattern alignment and layup
- Processes: Hand layup, vacuum bagging, and resin infusion using clear, UV-stable epoxy systems
- Applications: Automotive & motorsports panels, marine parts, consumer products, UAV/drone structures, cosmetic skins, interior trim and general composite laminates
Notes & Tips
- LMFG yarns are subtle in the final laminate and help maintain the twill pattern during handling and vacuum consolidation.
- Use a high-clarity epoxy for the best cosmetic depth and to keep the twill definition crisp.
- Stabilized fabrics are especially useful for kitted pre-cuts, CNC cutting, and multi-layer layups where edge stability matters.
