Chopped Carbon Fiber with Sizing - 6 mm, 5 lb
Description
Description
Chopped Carbon Fiber with Sizing – 3, 6, or 10 mm – 1 lb & 5 lb
This standard-modulus chopped carbon fiber is precision cut into short, clean strands and treated with a compatible surface sizing to improve wet-out and bonding in resin systems. It is an easy, lightweight way to boost tensile, flexural, and impact strength in filled epoxies, urethanes, polyesters, thermoplastics, and cementitious mixes.
Why Use Chopped Carbon Fiber?
- Reinforcement & crack resistance for castings, tooling, potting, joint fill, and repairs.
- Higher stiffness-to-weight vs. mineral or glass fillers; minimal added weight.
- Sized surface promotes strong fiber–matrix adhesion and fast wet-out.
- Clean, low fuzz strands for consistent dosing and easy handling.
Common Applications
- Epoxy putties, laminating resin back-fills, and structural casting compounds
- Compression and injection molding compounds (BMC/SMC)
- Thermoplastic compounding & filament/ pellet enhancement
- Concrete, mortar, and grout—crack control & impact resistance
- Automotive & marine repairs, lightweight fairing & bonding pastes

Use & Mixing Tips
- Pre-mix into resin or paste slowly to avoid clumping and entrapped air.
- Start around 5–10% by weight and adjust for flow and strength needs.
- For thermoplastics, keep material dry before compounding.
- Observe PPE for carbon dust: gloves, eye protection, and a suitable respirator.
- Carbon fiber is electrically conductive—keep away from electronics during handling.
Note: Performance depends on resin selection, loading level, cure profile, and geometry. Always validate in your process.
