D5300 High Performance Release Film
Description
D5300 High Performance Release Film (ETFE) – 48" & 60" – Red or Blue
D5300 is a fluoropolymer ETFE release film engineered for critical contour layups and high-quality surface finishes. It allows air and gases to vent through the stack while blocking resin flow, helping prepreg laminates consolidate cleanly without resin bleed-through. Use D5300 (or an equivalent ETFE film) whenever processing prepreg; other film types may not vent properly and can produce poor results.
Key Features
- Material: ETFE fluoropolymer release film with excellent chemical resistance and thermal stability
- Selective Permeability: Vents air/volatiles while preventing resin passage for consistent prepreg cures
- High Strength & Toughness: 7,000 psi tensile strength; high tear resistance for reliable handling
- Thermal Capability: 450°F (232°C) maximum use; 480°F (240°C) melt point
- Thin & Conformable: 0.001" thickness drapes over complex contours
- Options: 48" and 60" widths; Red or Blue colors for easy identification
Typical Applications
- Prepreg laminates in aerospace, marine, automotive, and industrial composites
- Complex molds or parts where venting without resin transfer is required
- Layups needing a clean, easy release and high cosmetic finish
Processing Guidelines
- Place D5300 against the laminate/release side; back with breather/bleeder as required.
- Ensure edges are managed to prevent resin egress; do not substitute non-ETFE films for prepreg.
- Stay within the 450°F (232°C) max use temperature; follow your prepreg cure schedule.
