This chopped strand mat (CSM) is a non-woven E-glass reinforcement made from random, short glass fibers held together with an emulsion binder. At 18 oz/yd² (≈2 oz/ft², ≈610 gsm) it adds material quickly while maintaining excellent drape, making it ideal for hand lay-up, skin coats, and intermediate plies. The random fiber orientation provides multi-directional stiffness, bridges tight radii, and helps reduce print-through when used between woven or stitched fabrics.

Processing Notes

• Use with polyester or vinyl ester resins. If using epoxy, select a powder-bound CSM or a compatible veil.
• Cut and pre-fit pieces to complex areas for clean lay-ups and reduced bridging.
• Wet out thoroughly and consolidate with a laminating roller to remove entrapped air.
• Place CSM between heavier fabrics to reduce print-through and achieve a smoother finish.
