HI-SHRINK TAPE Release Coated 220R
Description
HI-SHRINK TAPE 220R – Release-Coated Heat-Shrink Tape (100-yard rolls)
HI-SHRINK 220R is a tough, flexible, heat-shrinkable polyester (PET) tape with a PTFE release coating on one side. Wrap it around the laminate or tool, apply heat, and the tape shrinks to deliver uniform compaction pressure while the PTFE side releases cleanly after cure. It’s a fast, one-step way to debulk, consolidate, and form composite parts—especially tube/mandrel windings, repair bands, and tightly radiused details—without multiple films or shrink tubing.
How it works
- Start of shrink: ~150°F / 65°C
- Typical use window: ~175–350°F / 80–180°C (process dependent)
- Shrink benchmark: If unrestrained, tape will shrink about 20% after 15 minutes at 300°F / 150°C
Why 220R?
- PTFE (non-silicone) release coat prevents transfer and allows the tape to peel off cleanly.
- Consolidation & compaction for debulking laminates, forming, and smoothing layups.
- Can deliver a high-gloss, resin-rich finish on wrapped surfaces.
- One-step wrap replaces multiple film layers in many processes.
Application tips
- Wrap with PTFE-coated side facing out; overlap each turn (30–50% typical) for even pressure.
- Secure the ends; apply heat evenly (oven or controlled heat gun). Do not over-tension during wrap.
- For easiest removal, peel while warm once the part has reached a safe handling temperature.
- Always verify the temperature/time profile for your resin and process before full-scale production.
Ordering
- Length: 100 yards per roll
- Widths: 0.5", 0.75", 1", 1.25", 1.5"
- Construction: Polyester shrink tape, PTFE release-coated on one side
Typical color: translucent / natural
Note: Maximum recommended application temperatures are process dependent; 220R is commonly used up to about 350°F / 180°C. Always qualify on your specific tool/laminate and observe heat-safety practices.
