Silmar 249A Carbon Fiber Polyester Resin – Premium Water-Clear Surfboard Laminating Resin
Silmar 249A is the industry-leading water-clear polyester laminating resin used worldwide in surfboard manufacturing, composite finishing, and cosmetic carbon fiber layups. This premium resin cures exceptionally clear with a light green tint when uncured (unlike standard resins that cure brown), allowing colors, carbon fiber patterns, and graphics to remain bright, vibrant, and visually sharp.
Formulated specifically for the surfboard and high-performance composites market, Silmar 249A (Use MEKP Hardener) offers excellent UV stability to resist yellowing during long sun exposure and provides dependable heat resistance up to 180°F (82.2°C). Its air-inhibited system ensures a tacky “green” surface ideal for strong mechanical bonding between layers without sanding—perfect for multi-layer laminations and cosmetic finishing.
This resin wets out fabrics exceptionally well and delivers a smooth, high-quality surface ideal for carbon fiber parts, fiberglass laminations, clear cosmetic overlays, custom carbon panels, and lightweight performance composite structures.
