Thin Epoxy Resin
Description
Thin Epoxy Resin – Low Viscosity Laminating & Coating System
Our Thin Epoxy Resin is a low viscosity, liquid epoxy system based on Bisphenol-A, engineered for superior wet-out and penetration. This high-quality resin is a favorite for fiberglass, carbon fiber, Kevlar® and other composite reinforcements where fast wet-out and easy application are critical.
With its semi-clear, syrup-like consistency, Thin Epoxy Resin quickly saturates fabric, flowing easily into tight weaves and complex shapes. The thin viscosity also makes it an excellent choice as a penetrating sealer for porous substrates such as wood and cores, helping to improve bond strength and reduce dry spots.
Key Features & Benefits
- Low Viscosity Wet-Out – ideal for hand layup and vacuum bag laminating.
- High Clarity – semi-clear resin that showcases fiber patterns and finishes cleanly.
- Excellent Penetration – works as a sealer for wood, cores and other porous surfaces.
- Versatile System – can be paired with slow, medium or fast hardeners to match working time and temperature.
- Excellent Toughness & Flexibility – forms durable, impact-resistant laminates.
- NON-blushing Formula – minimizes surface amine blush for easier recoating and finishing.
- Easy to Modify – can be thickened with fillers to create adhesive mixes, fairing putties and gap-filling compounds.
Recommended Uses
- Fiberglass, carbon fiber and Kevlar® laminates
- Composite panels, boat building, and structural repairs
- Wood sealing and reinforcing porous substrates
- Adhesive mixes when combined with structural fillers
- Fairing putties and filleting compounds
- General purpose laminating, grouts, coatings, potting and encapsulation
Hardener Options (Sold Separately)
Thin Epoxy Resin can be used with compatible three types of hardeners to dial in working time and cure speed based on shop temperature, laminate thickness, and project size. Select the hardener that best matches your desired pot life and demold time.
- Slow Cure: 2:1 Epoxy Hardener
- Medium Cure: 3:1 Epoxy Hardener
- Fast Cure: 4:1 Epoxy Hardener
Application Notes
- Mix thoroughly according to the recommended resin:hardener ratio.
- Apply to clean, dry, properly prepared surfaces.
- Avoid high-temperature use with fast hardeners unless very short working times are acceptable.
- Allow full cure before sanding, machining or loading the laminate.
- For best results and long-term performance, use resin shortly after purchase and store in a cool, dry environment.
Thin Epoxy Resin delivers a reliable, easy-to-use solution for professional and hobby composite builders who need low viscosity wet-out, strong mechanical performance, and versatile processing options.
