Description

823 Duratec Crystal Clear Sealer – 1 Gallon

Duratec® 823 Crystal Clear Sealer is a low-viscosity, rapid-curing penetrating polyester sealer designed to anchor lacquers, urethanes, polyesters, vinyl esters, and most epoxies to a wide variety of substrates. It creates a strong, reliable bond layer that improves adhesion, levels porosity, and prepares surfaces for high-quality topcoats.

Ideal for composite plugs and patterns as well as wood and veneers, plaster, concrete, and GRP (fiberglass) surfaces, this sealer penetrates deeply to stabilize the substrate and minimize grain raise or absorption. Surfaces are typically ready for topcoating in as little as 1–2 hours, helping speed production and repair workflows.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Crystal clear penetrating sealer: seals and primes a wide variety of porous and semi-porous substrates.
  • Low viscosity: flows easily into surface pores and micro-cracks for superior wet-out and penetration.
  • Rapid cure: surfaces are ready for lacquer, urethane, polyester, vinyl ester, or epoxy topcoats in 1–2 hours.
  • Improved adhesion: anchors subsequent coatings to help prevent delamination, peeling, and premature failure.
  • Versatile application: can be sprayed, brushed, or rolled depending on project requirements.
  • Multi-substrate compatibility: excellent for composite plugs, patterns, wood, veneers, plaster, concrete, and GRP laminates.
  • Saves time & rework: reduces the need for multiple primer coats by sealing and stabilizing the surface in one step.

Typical Uses

  • Sealing composite plugs and patterns before high-build primers or tooling topcoats.
  • Penetrating sealer for wood, veneers, and MDF components.
  • Sealing porous substrates such as plaster and concrete prior to painting or coating.
  • Bond-enhancing sealer over GRP (fiberglass) laminates.

Duratec 823 Crystal Clear Sealer requires an MEKP catalyst (not included; sold separately) for proper cure. Always consult the Duratec Technical Data Sheet (TDS) and Application Guide for recommended mixing ratios, pot life, and application procedures to achieve the best bonding performance and surface quality.
