Our Orange Tooling Polyester Gelcoat is an isophthalic tooling gel coat engineered to provide the hard, durable and high-gloss surface required for superior-grade polyester tools and molds. Formulated for professional composites shops, this orange tooling gelcoat delivers excellent toughness, chemical resistance and print-blocking once fully cured.

Designed for use over properly prepared plugs or masters, the gelcoat builds a smooth, pin-hole-free surface that stands up to repeated demolding cycles in fiberglass, carbon fiber and other composite tooling applications. Under normal conditions, final toughness and chemical resistance will fully develop within 24–48 hours after lamination and removal from the master.

Application Guidelines

• Apply using a spray gun; initial passes should deposit only 3–5 mils to minimize air entrapment
• Use a “several passes” technique to build total film thickness to approximately 20–25 mils
• Maintain mold and ambient air temperature between 65–80°F (18.3–26.6°C) for best results
• Allow gelcoat to reach recommended cure before backing with fiberglass laminates
• Hardener required is MEKP DDM-9

• Approximate shelf life: 2–3 months from date of purchase when stored cool and sealed
• Keep container closed and store away from heat, sparks and direct sunlight
