RDR-3212 High Impact Room/High Temperature Laminating Resin
Description
RDR-3212 High Impact Room / High Temperature Laminating Resin
RDR-3212 is an unfilled, clear high impact laminating epoxy resin from Premium Resin Tech, designed for both room temperature and elevated temperature composite applications. This versatile system delivers an excellent combination of toughness and strength, with heat distortion temperatures typically ranging from 250–325 °F depending on hardener selection and post-cure schedule. RDR-3212 provides strong chemical resistance and outstanding adhesion and wet-out on Kevlar®, carbon fiber, and fiberglass reinforcements.
Key Features
- High impact performance: tough epoxy matrix engineered to absorb impact and resist cracking.
- Room & high temperature capable: HDT in the 250–325 °F range with the proper hardener and post-cure.
- Clear laminating resin: ideal for visual inspection of fabric placement and quality.
- Excellent wetting & adhesion on Kevlar®, carbon graphite, and fiberglass cloth.
- Room temperature cure: laminates typically reach a demoldable state overnight at ambient temperature.
Compatible Hardeners (Sold Separately)
Choose hardener based on desired pot life and service temperature:
- RDH-9234 Room Temperature / High Temperature Hardener – pot life ~165 minutes at 72 °F; HDT around 300 °F.
- RDH-9386 RTM Room Temperature Hardener – pot life ~45 minutes at 72 °F; HDT around 325 °F.
- RDH-9386-99 RTM Hardener – pot life ~60 minutes at 72 °F; HDT around 325 °F.
- RDH-9874 High Impact Fast Curing Laminating Hardener – short pot life ~15 minutes at 72 °F; HDT around 250 °F.
Available Package Sizes
- 8 lbs – approx. 1 Gallon
- 45 lbs – approx. 5 Gallons
Sold by weight: all sizes are sold in pounds for accurate metering and mix ratios. Larger quantities (drums and totes) are also available for production use; 500 lb drums may have additional lead time regardless of stock status.
Mixing & Use
- Mix only with the compatible RDH-series hardeners at the specified ratio by weight (see product TDS).
- Bring resin and hardener to shop temperature before mixing for predictable viscosity and gel time.
- Measure by weight and blend thoroughly, scraping sides and bottom of the container for a uniform mix.
- At room temperature, laminates typically demold overnight; for high temperature service, follow the recommended post-cure schedule to achieve full mechanical and thermal properties.
Typical Applications
- High impact structural laminates using Kevlar®, carbon fiber, and fiberglass reinforcements.
- Composite tooling, molds, and fixtures requiring both toughness and elevated temperature capability.
- Industrial, automotive, and aerospace components where impact resistance and heat performance are critical.
